Ecotek Canada(*) is the primary exporter of Eaton Corporation’s Uninterruptible Power Supply (“UPS”) and Control Systems to Vietnam. UPS Systems are typically used to protect hardware such as computer or other electrical equipment where an unexpected power disruption could cause injuries, fatalities, serious business disruption or data loss. Eaton Corporation is the second largest manufacturer of UPS systems worldwide. The Eaton UPS systems sold by Ecotek Canada in Vietnam have been branded with the name SANTAK.
Ecotek Canada has partnered with Stream Company Limited, a Vietnamese company doing business in Vietnam, to have Stream provide distribution channels and warranty services for all the products sold by Ecotek Canada in Vietnam.
Thanks to the cooperation between Ecotek Canada, Stream Company Limited, and its twenty Local Strategic Project Partners and Regional Distributors, SANTAK UPS has won a Golden Brand Award which recognizes product excellence as judged by the IT community and UPS-Users in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. According to PC World Vietnam, more than 68% of UPS-Users preferred SANTAK products sold by Ecotek Canada to those sold by its competitors.
Ecotek Canada’s SANTAK UPS products have been reviewed positively and are widely used at most Government offices and organizations, not just in the central area, but also in 63 provinces, 700 districts and almost 3000 wards around Vietnam.
In order to better serve its customers, Ecotek Canada has cooperated with Stream Company Limited to establish nine customer service and warranty centers in the business hubs and main cities of Vietnam, such as Phu Tho, Ha Noi, Thanh Hoa, Da Nang, Buon Ma Thuot, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City, Tien Giang and Can Tho.
Mr. Steven, Chau Nguyen, one of the directors of company, was recently appointed asRegional Manager for Ecotek Canada, and has been tasked with completing the legal formalities required by both Canada and Vietnam for setting up a representative office for the company in Ho Chi Minh city. We believe that this is the great news for all SANTAK UPS customers and users in Vietnam.
Ecotek Canada’s business in Vietnam has seen substantial growth with annual turnover growing by 25% in the last two years. We have not had any difficulties with the Vietnamese Government or their agencies in marketing and exporting products to Vietnam. There appears to be no differentiation between local products and those imported to Vietnam.
In our view, the Government could consider simplifying the formalities associated with starting a business in Vietnam. In particular, reducing the papers and steps required to create a representative office, joint ventures in Vietnam. After recently going through these steps, we found them to be costly and time consuming.
